In May, my son, Nick, and I took our II to a Mustang car show in Woodbridge, VA. The car got a lot of positive attention--it was the only Mustang II there. A lot of people came up to us to ask questions and share stories about IIs they owned when they were young. I can't help feeling a little nervous, especially at an all-Mustang show, because I don't know how people are going to react, but I've noticed, as time goes on, the more excited people are to see a II in person.
Watching the judges go over it--pointing out all the flaws--was nerve-wracking, though. We decided next time just to display it & not have it judged. It's a bit unfair, really, to expect Mustang IIs to be perfect. Parts are so scarce. Honestly, we're grateful she has all her parts and runs as well as she does.
We never expect to get a trophy at shows--we just go to represent the IIs & have fun. I usually enter the car under Nick's name to make it more fun for him. We won 1st place in our class this time! Okay, we were the only car in our class :) but Nick could not have been prouder when he was handed his shiny trophy.
